The blur
Amelia is so into everything these days, that trying to get a photo of her sometimes results in this.

If she's not crawling into things

or wearing bowls as hats,

then she's running around the room squealing with joy.

And speaking of joy, she is ours. :)

In other news, we were so excited to get a date night on Saturday. This has proved harder than we expected with two. Thanks to my mom and dad for making it possible - hopefully they'll be up for it more often in the future. :) We went to see Twilight on our date, so check out Mike's review if that's something you're into.

Classic Amelia
I love this first video because you see some classic Amelia antics:
1) her babbling (Somedays she "chats" all day long. We understand about one word out of every five minutes of babble.)
2) her dancing
3) her love of the camera
4) spinning around in circles, making herself dizzy

And the best video we've taken yet:

That especially makes Mike's heart happy because that's Dylan she's dancing to. :)

Three months

Wow, our little girl is three months old. Part of me can't wait for her to be running around playing with Amelia, and part of me is so sad that she's already getting so big. Lily is such a sweet, easy baby. She doesn't have that many "tricks" yet, but she is certainly a happy, smiley baby. We have been blessed that both of our girls are amazing sleepers - like to the point I feel guilty because it's so easy. Lily has been sleeping through the night like a pro for over a month now. She gets her last bottle around 10, and then usually wakes up about 6:30.
So in celebration of making it to the three-month mark, here are some more pics of our precious Lily. Oh, and just for the record, that's a tuft of hair in the middle of her head that makes her head look misshapen. :)

Friends
We were so blessed to spend some time with our friends the Gunkels while they were in town recently. We met Josh and Jessica a few years ago when Mike started working in UpStreet at Buckhead Church - they were volunteering on Sunday mornings. Jessica and I sang together for a couple of years, leading the kids in worship. We hit it off right away, and she became one of my dearest friends. She's definitely someone who I can be completely, 100 percent myself. That's a gift. I was heartbroken for myself when God called them to Kansas City about a year ago, so it did my heart good to spend time with them.
You may remember that Jadon was Amelia's first kiss:

She wasn't so much into being photographed that night:

Somehow we managed not to take any pictures of our families together this visit, so here's a photo of all of us from last year (sans Lily and Eliza who weren't born yet!):

We did take a few cute ones this visit though:

Josh, Jadon and Amelia

Eliza - she was still in Jessica's tummy when they moved. She's nine months old and as big as Amelia!

Cuteness!

Family photo they took for us
I started to title this post "Reconnecting," but then I realized that wouldn't be accurate, because thanks to email, Facebook, etc. we have been blessed to stay pretty connected despite the distance. But nothing beats face to face when it comes to good friends!!

Halloween, part 2: In her words
This year was my first real Halloween.
Because last year I was a baby like her.
Don't be deceived by her cuteness. She has no idea what's going on.
So anyway, like I was saying, this was my first real Halloween - the trick-or-treating kind. Grandma tried to show me the ropes.
But soon she couldn't catch up with me.
I stared down this pooch - no cowering for this'roo.
And I learned to just stand there and turn on the charm until people give you stuff.
Meanwhile, baby sis just kept sleeping. I told you she has no idea.
And for all that effort, guess what I got? Candy for dad.
Oh well, at least I have these fabulous lashes.
So now's when you're supposed to be laughing like I was here, because my mommy is oh-so funny.
Yeah, she's pretty silly, but I'll keep her. Until next Halloween at least.
The End.

Apples and oranges
We took both girls to the doctor on Friday for their checkups, which meant shots all around. Delightful.
But it also meant the customary measurements were taken, which is my favorite part. Amelia continues on her track of being short, pretty light, and having a ginormous head. This explains why everything that fits her elsewhere WON'T fit over her head! :)
21 lbs, 4.5 oz - 25%
28 1/2 in - 5%
47.3 cm head - 85%
Lily is growing healthily as well - although she seems to be a little more average, especially where her head is concerned.
11 lbs, 5 oz - 50%
22 in - 26%
38.6 cm head - 35%
For fun, we pulled out Amelia's stats from her two-month appointment. One day we'll try to stop comparing them, but for now it's harmless fun for us. :)
10 lbs, 9.5 oz - 42%
21 in - 9%*
38.9 cm head - 51%
*We don't think this was an accurate length measurement because it would have meant she had shrunk from her one-month appointment, plus it wasn't until she was several months old that she started slipping down on the bell curve of height.
While we're comparing, here are a couple of photos to see both girls at two months old.

I see a lot of similarities for sure, but I can also very much tell them apart. It's kind of like the old adage of comparing apples and oranges - the girls have their own special traits, but they are definitely in the same family and both are, without a doubt, sweet. :)
